There are many types of wedding dances that can be performed at your wedding reception. You’ll need to find the dances that best suit the occasion as well as the people involved in your party. Sometimes a fast piece of music calls for a Swing or the Hustle. If it is 3/4 timing, it might be a Viennese Waltz, which is very difficult for a beginning dance couple to pull off. In this case, the couple can do a Valse, which doesn’t whirl around the floor, but moves with grace and romance. If the music is a slow ballad, there is a good chance that the dance will be a Nightclub 2-Step, a Slow Dance or a combination of the two. A lot of times, there is more than one way to interpret a piece of music. There is always choreography that will show the couples’ personality and the love they share.
Here’s a list of some music you may want to have in your wedding:
- Bridal party entrance song
- First dance song
- Father/daughter song
- Father/son song
- In-laws dance song
- Mother -daughter/ mother- son dance song
- Sister/brother/sibling song
You can go all out and also pick some music for the bouquet toss, garter removal, garter toss and the garter placement.
Or, you can keep it as simple as just having an entrance song for your bridal party, your first dance as a married couple, and a father-daughter/mother-son dance.
Whichever way you decide to go, make sure the dancing is memorable and you have fun with it.
